Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine developed by Indian physician Dr. Madan Kataria. It combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing (Pranayama) which brings in more oxygen to the body and brain making one feel more energetic and healthy.
Anyone can laugh without relying on humour, jokes and comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness it turns into real and contagious laughter. It is based on the scientific fact that the body cannot tell the difference between fake and real laughter.
Laughter Yoga has been widely covered by media which includes prestigious publications like TIME magazine, BBC, CNN and the Oprah Winfrey show.
There are recognised medical benefits to laughter, and Laughter Yoga sessions have helped people of all ages and abilities to find their smile again. Laughter Yoga has been enjoyed in hospitals, prisons, schools and businesses.
Laughter Yoga requires only that you can breathe, and that you can laugh. No bending or strange postures are involved. Super fit or less able – everyone can laugh.
I have facilitated groups that remained seated the whole way through and they still had an amazing time.
So long as you can laugh safely and comfortably, you will get the benefits.
Laughter Yoga for parties or team building events?
Laughter parties are hilarious ways to connect together as a group and laugh naturally without the need for humour or alcohol. (Of course what follows the Laughter party is up to you!)
Using the principles of Laughter Yoga and hilarious games your group will be roaring with laughter and spirits will be lifted. Your friends will be talking about it for weeks after.
Laughter Yoga groups
Laughter Yoga is highly effective for people of any age. I have facilitated laughter yoga groups and demonstrations to schools, public sector organisations, businesses and social groups. The feedback is always amazing!
As a qualified Laughter Yoga leader trained by a master who was trained by the UK Laughter Ambassador for Dr Kataria, I can help any group to get the benefits of healthy laughter.
